2006 Guide
 to Municipal Elections

The 2006 guide to municipal elections is designed to inform you, the voter, of the candidates running for office in the May 2, 2006 General Election.  Polls are open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Election Day.  We encourage you to let your voice be heard by voting for the candidates of your choice.

A total of 42 candidates are on the May 2 ballot with a large number of candidates running in the four largest towns. In the smaller towns, write-in candidates will be selected to fill vacant seats.

Town of Clinchport

Persons seeking positions on the Clinchport Town Council are Cathy Akers, Sylvia Bowen, Billie Wade Page, Ralph Qualls, and Larry Wayne Rhoton. There are five seats on the council.  Billie J. Page is running for Clinchport Mayor.

Town of Duffield

Persons seeking positions on the Duffield Town Council are Buddy Dean Chesser, Gerald Miller, Shannon Qualls and John H. Shupe. There are five seats on the council.  No candidate has filed to run for mayor in the town.

Town of Dungannon

Persons seeking positions on the Dungannon Town Council are Dale Hall, Herbert Horne, Melissa Ann Hunt, James McKinley Lane, Dallas Sheryl McConnell, Fred Nickels, Michael Anthony Nickels and Nancy Osborne. There are five seats on the council. No candidate has filed to run for mayor in the town.

Town of Gate City

Persons seeking positions on the Gate City Town Council are Roger Cassell, Steven Dougherty, Tommy Herron, Carl Hurt, Frances Perry, and Rita Tipton. There are five seats on the council. Douglas C. Gillenwater and Mark Jenkins are running for Gate City Mayor.

Town of Nickelsville

Persons seeking positions on the Nickelsville Town Council are Shirley Carey Cassell, Robert DeVries, Danny Dixon, Tommy Green, Jonathan Mark Mills, and Roger Mustard.  There are six seats on the council.  George Isaacs is running for Nickelsville Mayor.

Town of Weber City

George C. Lane, Jake McMurray, Ronnie McMurray, Claude C. Osborne, Mary Lou Roberts, Carl W. Smith, Don Stokes, and William Garland Stokes. Grover W. Dougherty is running for Weber City Mayor.
