Computer Center to Open in Nickelsville

A new community center featuring public access to computers opens this Friday in Nickelsville.

A special ribbon-cutting ceremony, sponsored by the Scott County Chamber of Commerce and along with a special guest speaker, is planned for Sept. 1 at the site.

Scott County Telephone Cooperative is officially opening its Public Computer Center in Nickelsville on Friday, Sept. 1, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. The center is located behind Circle V Market at 437 School Street.

Ninth District Congressman Rick Boucher is speaking at 10 a.m. followed by the ceremonial ribbon-cutting at 11:30 a.m.

The public is welcome to attend anytime during the day to enjoy free refreshments, free merchandise and free demonstrations.

The company currently provides a Public Computer Center at the Pioneer Center in the Duffield Industrial Park.

Once the Nickelsville facility is fully functional, it will accept payments from SCTC customers in the area. The center, which is outfitted with 10 computer workstations, will be opened the following week beginning Tuesday, Sept. 5.
