School Basketball Programs RollingThe Gate City Christian School boys and girls basketball teams are successfully rolling through another season in the E.T.C.S.C. The Lady Warriors are currently 3-7, while their male counterparts are 6-7.
The Lady Warriors squared off with their conference rival A.C.A. Maryville on January 22 in Maryville, TN. The Lady Warriors battled their conference contender tough but feel just short 40-20. Rachel Harvey and Adrienne Britt paced the Lady Warriors with nine points each. Bailee Glasscock was the leading scorer for A.C.A Maryville with game high 17-points.
On January 25th, the Lady Warriors faced Wise County Christian falling 28-27 in a squeaker. Rachel Harvey led the scoring column for the Lady Warriors with nine points.
Saturday January 27th, the Lady Warriors got back on the winning track with a 24-21 victory over Clinch High. Despite Rachel Harvey fouling out early in the fourth quarter, the Lady Warriors were still able to hang on for the victory. Harvey led the scoring with nine points. The Lady Warriors are currently 3-7.
The Lady Warriors will battle with A.C.A Maryville again on February 12th at 5:30 at home.
The Gate City Christian School boy's team has been lighting up the scoreboard each night and they are currently (6-7). The Warriors defeated A.C.A Christian of Maryville 84-64 on January 22nd. Sophomore Zach Salyer was the leading scorer for the Warriors with a game high 29 points. Evan Grizzle and Logan Elliot chipped in with 16 and 18 points each. Sixth grader Nathan Alley also contributed to the victory nailing a three pointer in the third quarter. Zach Dempsy led A.C.A. with 23 points.
The Warriors blasted Wise County Christian 81-41 on Thursday, January 22nd. Evan Grizzle and Travis Mullins paced the Warriors with 22 and 19 points respectively.
After two straight victories the Warriors were defeated 77-65 by the much improved Clinch High. Clinch is currently running through its best season in school history. The Warriors trailed only by two points at the half, but Clinch pulled away late behind a 41 point effort by Dustin Murrell. Evan Grizzle and Zach Salyer poured in 23 and 21 points each for the Warriors.
Garrett Christian defeated the Warriors 69-62 on Friday, February 2nd 69-61. Logan Elliott (23 points), Evan Grizzle (15 points), and Travis Mullins (12 points) paced GCCS.
The Warriors will face A.C.A Maryville at 7 p.m. on February 12th at home.
