to Offer Program for Working Adults Working adults who want to complete their undergraduate degrees are invited to join Virginia Intermont College’s Adult Degree Studies, which will be held in convenient locations in Wise and Scott counties this fall.
Virginia Intermont College will host an information session at Mountain Empire Community College in Big Stone Gap Thursday, June 7, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Representatives from the Adult Degree Studies program will be available to meet with prospective students who can begin the application process, gain information about financial aid opportunities, and learn about the various majors.
This fall the selection of programs include: Bachelor’s in Management and Leadership, with courses held at Mountain Empire Community College (MECC); Bachelor’s in Interdisciplinary Studies (teacher education), with courses held at the Pioneer Center in Duffield; and Bachelor’s in Criminal Justice with courses held at the Regional Jail in Duffield. Next spring, the college plans to offer the Bachelor of Social Work at MECC.
All classes will meet in the evenings, with an occasional Saturday meeting for some courses. No courses are offered via the Internet, but rather in small group settings with a faculty member.
Classes this fall will begin in September and now is the time to consider enrollment.
