Duffield Volunteer Fire and Rescue is sponsoring basket bingo Friday, March 5 at 6:30 p.m. at the Scott County Career and Technical Center (Vocational Center). Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Cost is $35 for 22 games. There is a drawing in which the winning ticket will win a Longaberger Sort and Store Recycle Bin Basket Set. Tickets are available through any member of the fire and rescue squad.

The Scott County Chapters of Family, Career and Community Leaders of America are sponsoring a Vera Bradley/Longaberger Basket Bingo Saturday, March 6 at 6 p.m. at the Scott County Career and Technical Center (Vocational School). All proceeds benefit students participation in state and national competitions. The Scott County Retired Teachers Association meets Wednesday, March 10 at 11:15 a.m. at the Scott County Career and Technical Center (Vocational School). All retired teachers are welcome.

The Dungannon Development Commission, Inc. is now taking applications for the Project HELP Home Repair Program. The project is designed to help those in need of home repairs and fall within the poverty guidelines and live in Scott County. Call 467-2306 for more information.

Cake walk is set for Friday, March 5 at 6:30 p.m. at the Scott County Lifesaving Building in Dungannon. All proceeds benefit the Dungannon First Baptist Church. Refreshments and food available for sale.

The American Can-cer Society Relay for Life Team of Clinch River Fishers is sponsoring a spaghetti dinner Sunday, March 7 at noon at the Fort Blackmore United Methodist Church fellowship hall. Cost is $7 per plate. Carry-out is available. All proceeds benefit the American Cancer Society.

A hunter education class is offered Saturday, March 13 and Sunday, March 14, from 1-6:30 p.m. daily at the Cove Ridge Center at Natural Tunnel State Park. This is a mandatory 2-day course and is recognized for a concealed handgun permit in Virginia. Pre-registration is not required. Class enrollees must be 10 or older. The Gate City Sanitation Authority meets Wednesday, March 10 at 6 p.m. in the Gate City Town Hall auditorium, located at 156 East Jackson St., Gate City.

The Lonesome Pine Regional Library Board of Trustees meets Thursday, March 4 at 1 p.m. at the Wise County Public Library. The Finance Committee meets at 11:30 a.m. to review monthly payables.

Country breakfast is being served Saturday, March 13, from 8-10 a.m. at the Yuma Ruritan Building. All-you-can-eat meal costs $5 per person and includes biscuits, gravy, bacon, sausage, eggs, juice, coffee and milk. Carry-out is available.

Shape Note Singing workshop is planned for Sunday, March 7, from 2-4 p.m. at the visitors center at Natural Tunnel State Park. Students will learn William Walker's "The Christian Harmony" with four-part harmony. The course is free and all materials are provided.

The Scott County Head Start policy council meets Thursday, March 18 at 10 a.m. at the Scott County Public School Head Start Office in Weber City. The meeting is open to the public.
