The Nickelsville Order of the Eastern Star is sponsoring an all you can eat fish fry Friday, May 9, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Masonic Lodge Hall in Nickelsville. The cost is $7 for adults, $4 for children. Everyone is welcome.
The Scott County Retired Teachers Association is meeting Wednesday, May 14 at 11:30 a.m. at the Scott County Career and Technical Center (Vocational School). Lunch will not be served.
The Clinch Valley Little League is having an all you can eat breakfast fund-raiser Saturday, May 31, from 7 to 10 a.m. at Keith Memorial Park in Nickelsville. Menu consists of homemade biscuits, gravy, sausage, bacon, eggs, jellies, jams, orange juice and soft drinks. Cost is $6 per person, free for children 4 years and under.
The Footprints for Cures Relay for Life team is having a bake sale Thursday, May 8 and Friday, May 9, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Food Lion in Gate City. A yard sale is planned for Thursday, May 8 at the home, 1 mile past the Hob-Nob on right. Sale cancelled if it rains. A soup bean supper is set for Saturday, May 10, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Daniel Boone Baptist Church. The cost is $5 for adults, $3 for 12 and under. Everyone is welcome. All proceeds benefit the American Cancer Society.
Siege at the Wilderness Road Blockhouse is being held Saturday, May 31, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, June 1, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Battles are at 1 p.m. and dusk on Saturday with a horse race at 11 a.m. Frontier wedding and worship service are on Sunday. Family United for a Cure and Kellie's Floral are hosting an evening of family fun and entertainment Tuesday, June 3 at 7 p.m. at 185 West Jackson Street in Gate City. Bring lawn chairs. Refreshments are available. Love offering will be taken for the American Cancer Society Scott County Relay for Life.
Fish fry is planned for Friday, May 16 at 4 p.m. at the Manville Community Center. Meal consists of fish and shrimp, fries, baked beans, hushpuppies, slaw and dessert. Cost is $7 for adults, $3.50 for children under 12. Takeout is available.
