Summer Celebration

Gate City celebrated the early start of summer with Saturday’s Clinch Mountain Summer Celebration that featured music, food, shopping and fun for all ages. A large crowd turned out to listen to Morgan Culbertson during the afternoon event. More pictures are in­side this edition.

Nickelsville to Receive $25,000 Grant for Farmers Market

As Virginia Ag Week kicked off on Monday, Gov. Glenn Youngkin announced 11 projects that would share in $214,000 in state funds for infrastructure devel­opment to support local food and farming sys­tems. Bombs Aweigh

Library volunteers participated in Saturday’s Clinch Mountain Sum­mer Celebration by “yarn bombing” the exterior of the Scott County Public Library. According to branch manager Stephanie Griffin, yarn bombing is a form of graffiti using knitted and crocheted pieces to cover outdoor spaces. The crochet class at the library and local folks donated items to be included in the display.

Hole in One

Carole Fuller re­corded a hole in one during the Big Blue Booster’s Golf Tour­nament on Sunday, June 12 at Scott County Park & Golf Course. The ace oc­curred on Hole No. 2, with Fuller using her pitching wedge to score the 95-yard shot. Witnesses were Andrea Thomas, J.B. Hunt and Kiki Hunt.
